WHOA

Postby buffalomary » Thu Oct 27, 2011 11:21 am

HAVE A WHITE SILOUTTE DOG FOR TEACHING WHOA IN YOUR BACKYARD.
WHEN I FIRST GOT INTO GSPs, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE WHOA.

THIS IS A WHITE POINTED 1/4 IN BOARD LOOKING LIKE A REAL DOG.
DONT KNOW IF ANYBODY USES THESE ANYMORE, BUT WAS SURE HANDY
FOR ME, AFTER SCHOOL, DAILY, A COUPLE OF MIN.
WHOA MEANS STOP: REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU SEE OR HEAR.

I am teaching now after 30 years in hunting, in obedience, a dog to COME.
found an excellent article by a world class trainer: do it 3 times per day, no name, various locations, when the dog comes into you, praise and give a tid bit of food:.For 2 months.
WHEN YOU TEACH THE WHOA, depending upon your location, have the dog come into yard where you have set up the dog, on leash, and whisper:WHOA. Their hearing is excellent. When dog stops, pet.
Literally more to it, i can show it.
