Unit 4B elk

Postby jt807 » Sun Oct 19, 2008 5:34 pm

I have a rifle bull tag for unit 4B end of November, Early December.

Anybody else going to be up there then?

We went up scouting yesterday. We saw some sign, but not an impressive amount. Very few rubs. No elk at all, and we were there daylight to dusk.

This is the first time we have hunted this unit, so we covered a lot of it rather quickly to learn the layout, and what areas were too thick to be hunted.

If anybody has any advice on where to look, I would appreciate it. Even general strategies, like what elevations, etc., would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Jason

Jason my wife has a 4a tag nov 28 we will be at the power line where they cross the 300 rd. If there is no snow then I would look for stands of oaks with acorns, the elk will be hitting them hard before the snows. Lenord canyon is said to hold elk until the snows and then they tend to migrate towards the north flats in the junipers.
