Message from Ed Rucker: APRIL 2008 AZPDC FIELD TRIAL
Well, what a first event for the Arizona Pointing Dog Club in 2008.
April’s Field Event nearly drew a record crowd. Way to go club!
If only the weather cooperated, it would have been perfect. Whatever
you do don’t say the “W” word the week of the event; I think I used
a full Q-tip box to get my big ears cleaned. Anyway, let’s get to business.
Most Outstanding Performance Hunter Class
- Colt/Bob Bogardus Sr- Wow! 16 points Sunday and 5 finds, keep an eye
on this dog folks.
- Herby/Bob Bogardus Jr-Now we know he’s a Gundog, but 5 finds and 17
total points is still worth mentioning. Way to go! Handling another
member’s dog, and doing an outstanding job is a tall order.
Most Outstanding Performance Gundog Class
- Scooter/Jack Mitchell-33 Points on Saturday while taking the
blue ribbon. Way to go Jack. Scooter is carrying over a wonderful
Mearn’s season into the AZPDC season. Keep it up!
- Shiner/Andy Welch-We all know this dog is an awesome specimen of
the breed, and he showed it this weekend. Andy, what a great day you
had with both of your dogs. We all know the work you put into your
buddies! 4 finds in any class usually will usually put you in the top spot.
Notable Performances that need to be mentioned:
- Harlee/Jim Schroeder-Well, we put the pressure on you to step it
up. You did. What more can I say?
- Gage/Bob Bogardus Jr-You have done well with your dogs, and Gage
showed the results of your effort and dedication. Nice work!
- Ranger/Jim Cassara-Late last year, you were rising fast with Ranger.
It looks like you are par for the course. Can you say steady? The dog
is a guaranteed 5/4 with every bird. Super job!
- Cash, Charlie & Jenny/Pat Husted-You and your dogs are awesome.
You have to be super stoked that ALL of your dogs shined. The overall
best weekend performance goes to your dogs. I want to go hunting with
you. We will eat good.
- Freckles/Todd Fielitz-Unbelievable. A win in Jr on Saturday, and
a place in Sr on Sunday. You should be cookin’ the dog a steak by now!
- Bull/Mike Ackerman-Your first event and a red ribbon is the result.
I know you are gleaming with happiness. You guys will be something else.
- Kylie/Tommy Chupa-4th on Saturday then 2nd in a runoff on Sunday.
You have a special dog Tommy. I’m really impressed.
- Duece/ Dave Auten-A great job with a placement on Saturday and a
win on Sunday. Great job, I wish I could have watched your dog run.
Dogs/ Handlers to keep an eye on:
- Dundee/Doug Burton-He was in the placements both days.
- Katie/Lisa & Russel Page-She’s a one fine pup; she’s a winner for sure.
- Hobie/Tom Wheeling-I am super impressed with this “Red Dog”.
- Ryche/Tracy Fielitz-Great Job Tracy. I love to see you pushing the men aside.
- Cheyenne/Snow Aubel-This is the finest Weime I have ever seen. You
have an awesome gundog in the making.
Well other than the ridiculous wind, it was a great weekend and we
had wonderful participation. I want to thank all who came out and helped.
We cannot make this happen without your support. In closing, I want to give
some credit to the women of the club, they all have stepped up to help make
the event run smooth. This time we had the highest participation of women
running dogs I can remember. The kids even participated in good numbers. When
you get a chance, give a pat on the back to some of these folks: Snow Aubel,
Debbie Schroeder, Gina Gerdes, Tracy Fielitz, Lisa Page, David Page, and Cedric Gerdes.
I look forward to seeing you May 24th & 25th. Saturday will be the Chukar
Challenge and Sunday a regular trial event. I know we have had a lot of
schedule changes, but most have been due to circumstances beyond our control.
Thank you for your endless support and understanding.
